Despite volume controls being set to mute and sound theme set to “No Sounds,” the stupid system speaker still issues a quick succession of beeps when I shut down my Dell Vostro 1520.
I really don’t care to hear anything the system speaker has to say. So I disabled it altogether.
Here’s how:
gksudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
At the bottom, add the following line:
blacklist pcspkr
Reboot. Log in and the next time you shutdown, the speaker should not beep.
thnx
works perfectly
