Windows – How to change the startup directory for a Command Prompt

Two ways to do it–

  1. Tweak the registry and alter the startup directory for every instance of the command line henceforth opened, or
  2. Create a shortcut to “cmd.exe” and change the Start In property of the shortcut to the directory you want cmd to start in.  Every time you open the command prompt using this shortcut, it will open in your specified directory.
